Bach Trumpet 1924 Model Advertisement
The earliest known Bach Trumpet 1924 Model advertisement from Vincent Bach Corporation was placed in the International Musician publication in their September 1924 issue.
The final engineering drawings for the Model 1924 Bach Trumpet are dated August 28, 1924, so this is most likely the earliest or one of the earliest advertisements of this first Vincent Bach-branded trumpet.
Curiously, the 1924 Model Bach Trumpet used different advertisement texts for the Sept. – November 1924 ads. The December issue repeated the November ad and the same ad was used through Feb. 1925, listed as the 1925 model.

BACH TRUMPET
(1924 MODEL)
” The perfect instrument. Not a copy of any existing trumpet, but a new departure in acoustical perfection and mechanical craftsmanship. Thousands of dollars spent on experimental work have brought the BACH TRUMPET to its present elevated position and it is rightfully conceded to be “THE BEST TRUMPET IN THE WORLD”
Down through the musical generations has come the undying fame of the name BACH carried by the imposing, glorious compositions of Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 – 1750). New lustre has been added to the name by another member of the BACH FAMILY, whose mechanical ingenuity, infinite patience in details and musical inheritance has brought into being a trumpet of such unbelievable perfection that is certain to be a standard, as long as brass instruments are played. The BACH TRUMPET, 1924 Model, is as exquisitely beautiful as a rare piece of jewelry. Its playing qualities are the wonder of trumpeters and despair of imitators. Though, study, time, experiments, patience, expense and thoroughness have not been spared to make the BACH TRUMPET the “PRINCE OF THE BRASS INSTRUMENT FAMILY.”
The heroic, martial tone quality of the BACH TRUMPET can be noted in any ensemble, but is particularly appreciated when heard in a large Symphony or Opera Orchestra, where it cuts through the strings and woodwinds with tremendous power, at the same time blending perfectly with different orchestral voices.
The BACH TRUMPET is in perfect tune in all registers and its intonation so precise that it is almost impossible for a note to “split.” There is no guessing about high “C.” Hit it and it’s there.
The valves are so accurately adjusted that they can be regarded as “stickproof.” Every phase of your playing will be improved to a remarkable degree when you eventually change to the BACH TRUMPET. BACH TRUMPET
(1924 MODEL)
” THE INSTRUMENT FOR THE SOLOIST, SYMPHONY AND OPERA ARTIST, and all players whose positions demand the best. The BACH TRUMPET is the leader of brass instruments. Every smallest detail has been given infinite care in order to elevate this magnificent instrument to such supreme heights of workman-ship and musical quality as to make it the outstanding trumpet of the century. By comparison all other trumpets pale into insignificance beside it.
The wonderful qualities every manufacturer strives to reach are found in 1924 model BACH TRUMPET:
- PURE IN TONE
- PERFECT SCALES
- HEROIC WITH TONE QUALITY
- MARVELOUS INTONATION
- ABSOLUTELY RELIABLE VALVE ACTION
- EASIEST BLOWING
In the BACH TRUMPET the above features are perfected to a degree never before conceived as possible in trumpet building. The BACH TRUMPET is in a class by itself and plays entirely different than any other horn. Although beautiful in appearance, it is not designed to intrigue the eye of the purchaser, but our years of experimental effort have been for the purpose of making this instrument.
THE BEST PLAYING— THE MOST SUBSTANTIAL— THE EVERLASTING TRUMPET
Every instrument is tested and played for two or three hours by Mr. Vincent Bach. If there is the slightest defect it is instantly condemned. Only perfect trumpets are passed. The valve pistons are ground so precisely that they are absolutely air-tight and will never cause the slightest trouble if kept clean and oiled.
The slides are fitted so closely as to be completely air-tight and only movable when kept well greased, They will remain air-tight indefinitely.
All parts subject to impair from perspiration of your hands, such as the ballester tube, finger tips, finger rings, water keys, stays, etc., are made of 18 per cent nickel silver, which is impervious to the acids of perspiration and practically indestructible. All parts subject to strain are reinforced, thus greatly increasing its durability.
It always pays to have the best. To buy a cheap brass instrument is the poorest kind of an investment. When a performer uses a cheap violin or a mediocre piano only the audience suffers, but with an inferior brass instrument he endangers his embouchure, overstrains his lungs and lip muscles, and so absorbs his energy that he has no ambition to practice and may ruin his chances of becoming a fine Player. Within a few years a cheap instrument will start to leak, lose its tone and tuning, blow haré ment, and cause notes to “crack” and “split,” and become useless as a musical instrument: furthermore, it’s trade-in value on another instrument will be very small, and considered from every angle the trumpeter is saving money when he buys the best instrument obtainable, regardless of price.’
