M = Medium, ML = Medium Large, L = Large
(1) LT Models:
Lightweight models have thinner brass tubing throughout, except in the valve section. Tend to respond more quickly, to be brighter, and to open up more easily in the upper register.
(2) V Model:
Vindobona (Vienna) Model has a broad, somewhat cornetlike timbre.
(3) On request, we will build a C trumpet with a full-length Bb mouthpipe, tuned to A-441 with only a 3/4″ pull on the main tuning slide.
(4) On request, we will build a C188 in the key of C with a 488 bell and C440 mouthpipe.
Bells
- 37 Bell (Standard ML): Rich, compact sound of great projection.
- 43 (Bb) Bell: Broader, brighter, more open than 37.
- 72 (Bb) Bell: Strong, powerful sound, darker tones than 37.
- 37*, 43*, 72*” Lightweight bells, similar in sound to the above, tend to respond more freely and open up more easily than regular weight bells. Tend to be slightly edgier. Lightweight bells are marked * on the instrument.
- 239 (Standard C) Bell: Rich, big, dark sound.
- 229 Bell: Tends to be slightly broader than 239. Well in tune.
- 238 (Vindobona) Bell: Dark, rich sound quality, with slightly different overtone pattern.
- 311 Piccolo Bell: Bright, crystaline clarino sound. Larger numbers (314, 216, 218, 320, 325) tend to be bigger and darker in sound characteristics. Intonation can be less sure with larger bell throats.
- Note: Bell and mouthpipe numbers do not refer directly to sizes: they are factory part numbers.
Mouthpipes
- 25 Mouthpipe (Standard Bb): Some resistance, effective in centering or typing together tone projection.
- 25-O Mouthpipe: More open than the 25, freer blowing, and more flexible.
- 7 Mouthpipe: Broader tone quality than the 25/
- 43 Mouthpipe: More open feeling, with less resistance and more flexible tone production than the 25.
- 25C Mouthpipe: 25 mouthpipe cut to a standard C length.
- 25A Mouthpipe: 25 mouthpipe cut longer than the standard C length with a slightly shorter tuning slide on the top side.
- 25H Mouthpipe: Free blowing and very flexible. More volume possible than with the 25. Same length as the 25C.
- 25S Mouthpipe: Full length Bb mouthpipe with only 3/4″ pull on main tuning slide, made to fit C trumpet.
