We’ve started collecting some famous Bach Stradivarius Trombone artists who have played the instrument over the years. Here’s our summary, which we will continue to add to as we discover more early Bach Trombone artists.
New York era
Joannès Rochut was named the principal trombone in 1925 and, by that time,, was an internationally acclaimed trombone artist in great demand. There is a great article written by Douglas Yeo about Rochut’s history in the January 2025 issue of the International Trombone Association‘s ITA journal.
Here are the advertisements of that era, along with the shop card for the Bach Stradivarius trombone, serial number 23, purchased by Rochut on November 22nd, 1929.
